The 4.0-liter VVT-i V6 features variable valve timing and was factory rated at 236 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque when new. The V6 Tow Package added a heavy-duty battery, a revised alternator, a seven-pin connector, and supplemental oil coolers.
Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission, a dual-range transfer case, and a locking rear differential.
